{"id":1815,"date":"2016-12-19T12:04:48","date_gmt":"2016-12-19T17:04:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brigham.ca\/en\/?page_id=1815"},"modified":"2021-03-26T08:14:22","modified_gmt":"2021-03-26T12:14:22","slug":"environment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/brigham.ca\/en\/environment\/","title":{"rendered":"Environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Environment&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span class=\"\">A municipality plays an important role in protecting and conserving the environment.<\/span> <span class=\"\">The Municipality has set up several services that aim to highlight the natural environment: water, fauna, flora and landscapes.<\/span> <span class=\"\">Here are the main environmental services offered by the municipality:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Recovery Programs<br \/>\n<span class=\"\">\u2022 Management of lakes and rivers<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"\">\u2022 Identification and protection of wetlands<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"\">\u2022 Management of septic systems<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"\">\u2022 Control of nuisances<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"\">\u2022 Distribution of good practice guides<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Shoreline Protection&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span class=\"\">Definition of the shore<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span class=\"\">The shore is a strip of land that borders lakes, rivers and streams and extends inland from the high water mark.<\/span> <span class=\"\">The width of the shore to be protected is measured horizontally.<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"\">The shoreline has a minimum of 10 meters:<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"\">&#8211; when the slope is less than 30%, or;<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"\">&#8211; when the slope is greater than 30% and has a slope of less than 5 meters in height.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The shoreline has a minimum of 15 meters:<br \/>\n<span class=\"\">&#8211; when the slope is continuous and greater than 30%, or;<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"\">&#8211; where the slope is more than 30% and has a slope of more than 5 meters in height.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"\">Typical section of a stream showing the boundary of the shore and coastline<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column el_class=&#8221;center&#8221;]<img src=\"https:\/\/brigham.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/bande-riveraine-480x220.jpg\" class=\"\"  alt=\"\">[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Source: Protection des rives, du littoral et des plaines inondables : guide des bonnes pratiques, Services de l\u2019am\u00e9nagement et de la protection des rives et du littoral, Minist\u00e8re du D\u00e9veloppement durable, de l\u2019Environnement et des Parcs, Publications du Qu\u00e9bec, 1998, \u00c9dition mise \u00e0 jour en 2005.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Waterways<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Attention! Some ditches are now considered as waterways under article 103 of the Loi sur les comp\u00e9tences municipales.
