{"id":1859,"date":"2016-12-19T15:38:13","date_gmt":"2016-12-19T20:38:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brigham.ca\/en\/?page_id=1859"},"modified":"2023-02-08T13:36:08","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T18:36:08","slug":"taxes-and-property-assessment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/brigham.ca\/en\/taxes-and-property-assessment\/","title":{"rendered":"Taxes and property assessment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Municipal taxes&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The municipal tax accounts issued by the Municipality of Brigham for the year 2023 were posted on February 8, 2023.<\/p>\n<h3>When to pay municipal taxes?<\/h3>\n<p>According to <em>By-law number 2022-09 concernant la taxation et des tarifications pour l\u2019ann\u00e9e 2023<\/em>, payment dates were established as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First installment: March 10, 2023<\/li>\n<li>Second installment: June 8, 2023<\/li>\n<li>Third installment: August 7, 2023<\/li>\n<li>Fourth installment: October 6, 2023<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Effective January 1, 2023, unpaid balances of any debt due to the municipality bear interest at an annual rate of 14% from the time they become due. By-law Number 2022-09 is available for review by contacting the Town Hall.<\/p>\n<h3>Where to pay your municipal tax bill<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Brigham Town Hall (money, Interac check or debit)<\/li>\n<li>Caisse Populaire Desjardins (ATM, branch or on the Internet)<\/li>\n<li>Your financial institution (depending on the institution)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Financial Document<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brigham.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Reglement-2022-09-version-finale-2.pdf\" class=\"c-button\">BY-LAW 2022-09<\/a><\/p>\n\n<h2>Municipal assessment<\/h2>\n<h4>The evaluation service<\/h4>\n<p>The Municipality of Brigham delegated its competence in evaluation to the MRC Brome-Missiquoi. The MRC\u2019s evaluation unit has as main responsibilities the updating and preparation of graphic roles and matrices as well as the establishment of the median proportion. This department follows up with municipalities and taxpayers. It is the Loi sur la fiscalit\u00e9 municipale\u00a0that dictates to the appraiser the various parameters to determine the real assets and values to be entered on the assessment roll.<\/p>\n<h4>The evaluation role<\/h4>\n<p>Assessment rolls are prepared every three (3) years.
