The municipal tax accounts issued by the Municipality of Brigham for the year 2023 were posted on February 8, 2023.
When to pay municipal taxes?
According to By-law number 2022-09 concernant la taxation et des tarifications pour l’année 2023, payment dates were established as follows:
- First installment: March 10, 2023
- Second installment: June 8, 2023
- Third installment: August 7, 2023
- Fourth installment: October 6, 2023
Effective January 1, 2023, unpaid balances of any debt due to the municipality bear interest at an annual rate of 14% from the time they become due. By-law Number 2022-09 is available for review by contacting the Town Hall.

Municipal assessment
The evaluation service
The Municipality of Brigham delegated its competence in evaluation to the MRC Brome-Missiquoi. The MRC’s evaluation unit has as main responsibilities the updating and preparation of graphic roles and matrices as well as the establishment of the median proportion. This department follows up with municipalities and taxpayers. It is the Loi sur la fiscalité municipale that dictates to the appraiser the various parameters to determine the real assets and values to be entered on the assessment roll.
The evaluation role
Assessment rolls are prepared every three (3) years. The current roll for the Municipality of Brigham is the 2021-2022-2023 triennial roll.
An application for review may be made in the first year of operation of an assessment roll (2021) or as a result of the issuance of a certificate of amendment resulting from a new construction, or a renovation.
